Do you have questions about the SAT or ACT? This page will answer your questions!! (Well, at least MOST of them!!)
1. Do I need to have my test scores sent to my college directly from the testing agency?
Clemson University and the University of South Carolina require all students who apply to submit their test scores directly from ETS (SAT) or the ACT. They will not accept any scores submitted by the high school. We highly recommend that you submit your scores to the college in which you are applying. You had the option to do so on the registration form that you filled out for each test. If you did so, then the college(s) will receive your scores. If not, you need to have the testing service send them directly to the college. To have your scores sent to a college for the SAT, click here. To have your scores sent for the ACT, click here.
2. Should I wait to send my test scores to a college after I take it once or twice, just in case I do not score as highly as I 'd like to?
Colleges understand that a student's first SAT or ACT score may not necessarily be the highest score that the student will make on the test. Therefore, it is not to the student's advantage to wait to have the scores sent to a college. As a matter of fact, a college will receive every test score that the student has eventually, and should not withhold scores due to this reason.
3. Which colleges will require the writing section on the NEW SAT/ACT?
Each college has made a decision on how they will use the new writing section on the SAT/ACT beginning in March, 2005. Below are links to the SAT and ACT that will answer your question about specific colleges:

Students will receive three scores on the New SAT, one for math one for reading and one for writing. Each subject is scored on a scale of 200 to 800. The average is approximately 500 in each subject. The maximum score is a 2400.

Students who are planning on attending a technical college directly after graduating from Dorman are not required to take the SAT or ACT. These students should take the ASSET placement test through the technical college of their choice. We have some resources in the guidance office concerning these placement tests. To register, please call the admissions office at the technical college that you plan to attend and schedule a testing session.
